Orbit — Privacy & Data Notice
Last updated: October 14, 2026
Hey! This is Orbit’s plain-language privacy notice.
Orbit is an independent, hobby anime and manga app made by Quesz (kw3z). This page explains, in normal human language, what information Orbit uses and why. It is an honest description of how Orbit works. It does not remove or limit any privacy rights you may have under applicable law.
1. What is Orbit?
Orbit helps you discover, explore and keep track of anime and manga. Features include:
- Discover: roulette modes for anime and manga, with filters such as genre, length, minimum score, era and format.
- Connections: a map of characters, voice actors, staff, studios and related works.
- My List: your own anime and manga list with status and progress, plus favourites.
- Journal: private notes, optional ratings and favourite characters.
- Details pages: next-episode countdowns, reviews, recommendations, crowd stats, score distribution, tags, trailers, streaming and external links, and opening and closing themes.
- Calendar: airing schedule by week or month, or only for titles in your list.
- Reminders: local notifications when episodes you follow come out.
- Activity: read-only AniList activity and replies for a title or your profile.
- Profile: your stats and favourites, with optional AniList connection.
- Daily quote: an anime quote on the Home screen.
Orbit is not a streaming service. It does not host or redistribute episodes or chapters.
2. What stays on your device
Orbit has no accounts of its own and no Orbit server that stores your data. These are saved on your device only:
- your list (status, progress, scores, notes you add to entries) for anime and manga;
- favourites;
- journal entries, ratings and favourite characters;
- settings (title language, rating format, content preferences, notification choices);
- recent searches (the last few, which you can remove or clear at any time);
- discovery history, so the roulette does not repeat itself;
- cached images and logos, to make the app faster.
Deleting the app removes this data. You can also delete it from Settings.
3. Optional AniList connection
If you connect AniList:
- Orbit signs you in through AniList’s own login page. Orbit never sees your AniList password.
- AniList gives Orbit an access token. Orbit stores it in your device’s secure storage and uses it only to read your AniList data.
- Orbit reads your anime and manga lists, your profile, followers and following counts, favourites and activity. Orbit does not post, edit or delete anything on AniList.
- Disconnecting removes the token from your device. You can also revoke Orbit’s access in your AniList account settings.
Using AniList is subject to AniList’s own terms and privacy policy.
4. Services Orbit talks to
To work, Orbit makes requests to these services. They receive standard technical information such as your IP address and device type, plus the request itself (for example, which title you opened or what you searched).
- AniList (anime and manga data, reviews, activity, airing times, recommendations, statistics).
- Fanart.tv (clear logos), either directly or through a proxy.
- Jikan / MyAnimeList (opening and closing themes, looked up with a title’s MyAnimeList id).
- AnimeChan (the daily quote).
- Image and video links shown in the app, such as cover art, avatars and trailer thumbnails. Opening a trailer, streaming link or external link leaves Orbit and goes to that site.
Orbit does not send your journal, notes, list or favourites to any of these services. Reviews, activity text and avatars you see belong to the people who wrote them and are shown as AniList provides them.
5. Notifications
Orbit uses local notifications, created on your device. Orbit does not use a push-notification server and does not send your notification choices anywhere.
- Episode reminders are on by default for anime you are watching or plan to watch. Turn them off for everything in Settings, or for one title with the bell on its page.
- While Orbit is in testing, a test notification can appear every minute. You can turn it off in Settings.
- You can deny or revoke the notification permission in your device settings at any time.
6. Analytics, ads and tracking
Orbit has no advertising, no ad identifiers and no third-party analytics or tracking tools.
7. Content preferences and age
Some titles are marked adult (18+) by AniList. Orbit hides them unless you turn on the content setting. Orbit is intended for people who are old enough to use AniList under its terms. Orbit does not knowingly collect information from children.
8. How long data is kept
Data on your device stays until you delete it, clear it in Settings or remove the app. Requests made to the services above are kept according to those services’ own policies.
9. Your choices
- Edit or delete any list entry, favourite or journal entry.
- Remove recent searches one by one, or clear them all.
- Turn notifications on or off.
- Disconnect AniList.
- Delete your local data in Settings.
Where the law gives you rights over personal information, you can contact Orbit using the details below.
10. Security
Orbit keeps tokens in secure device storage and uses encrypted connections to the services above. No app can promise perfect security, so please keep your device protected.
11. Changes
If Orbit’s data practices change, for example by adding cloud sync or accounts, this page will be updated before the change ships.
