Install Orbit
Orbit is installed from an APK file on Android.
Download the APK
Get the latest file from the Download page or GitHub Releases.
Allow installs from this source
When Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps. The exact menu name differs between devices.
Open the file and tap Install
If Play Protect shows a warning, continue only if the file came from this website or the official GitHub releases.
Open Orbit
No account is needed. You can connect AniList whenever you like.
Updating
Download the newer APK and install it over the old one. Your list and journal stay on your device, but export your journal first to be safe.
Connect AniList
Connecting is optional. Orbit signs you in through AniList’s own page and only reads your data.
Open the connect option
In Orbit, go to your profile or Settings and choose Connect AniList.
Log in on AniList
A browser page opens. Log in there. Orbit never sees your password.
Approve access
Allow Orbit to read your lists, profile, favourites and activity.
Come back to Orbit
You return to the app and your AniList data appears.
Disconnect any time
Disconnect in Orbit, or revoke access from the Apps section of your AniList settings.
Export your journal
Journal entries are stored on your device. Export them to keep a copy.
Open your Journal
Go to the Journal screen.
Choose Export
Use the export option and pick Markdown, PDF or JSON.
Save or share the file
Save it to your device or send it to your notes app, cloud storage or another phone.
- Markdown suits notes apps, PDF suits reading and printing, JSON suits backups.
- Export before uninstalling Orbit. Removing the app deletes its local data.
Troubleshooting
The app won’t install
Allow installs from unknown sources for your browser or file manager, and make sure you have enough free storage. If Android says the app conflicts with an older copy, export your journal, uninstall the old version and install again.
Play Protect shows a warning
This can happen with apps installed from an APK. Continue only if you downloaded the file from this website or the official GitHub releases.
AniList login fails or doesn’t return to Orbit
Update Orbit to the latest version and try again. Make sure AniList is reachable in your browser. If it still fails, revoke Orbit in your AniList settings and connect again.
I don’t get episode reminders
Check that notifications are allowed for Orbit in your device settings, that reminders are on in Orbit Settings, and that the bell is on for that title. Turn off battery optimisation for Orbit if your phone closes background apps. Air times come from AniList and can change.
A notification appears every minute
Test builds can send a test notification every minute. Turn it off in Orbit Settings.
Images, logos, themes or quotes are missing
These come from third-party services such as Fanart.tv, Jikan and AnimeChan. They can be slow, rate limited or unavailable. Try again later.
18+ titles don’t show up
Adult titles are hidden by default. Turn on the content setting in Orbit Settings if you want to see them.
My list or journal disappeared
Orbit keeps data on your device, so removing the app or clearing its data deletes it. Export your journal regularly. Your AniList lists come back when you reconnect.
